About This Course

OET or more commonly referred to as the Occupational English Test is an exclusive English language test that has been designed for health care professionals. Since 2013, the OET exam has been conducted by CBLA or Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment which is a venture between Cambridge English and Boxhill Institute. Healthcare professionals who arelooking to work or study in the healthcare sector in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand are required to apply for the OET to be able to prove their level of English proficiency to be able to deliver superior healthcare. OET exam has been specifically designed for 12 healthcare professions including Occupational Therapy, Dentistry, Nursing, Radiography, Veterinary Science, Medicine, Speech Pathology, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Podiatry, Pharmacy, and Optometry.

OET Exam Pattern And Syllabus

Healthcare professionals who are looking to work in the healthcare sector in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Dubai, and Singapore are required to appear for their OET (Occupational English Test) in order to establish their proficiency in the English Language in a healthcare environment. 

OET Eligibility

OET Comprises Four Sub-Tests

Candidates are required to demonstrate that they can read and understand different types of text on health-related subjects.

Candidates are required to demonstrate that they can follow and understand a range of health-related spoken materials such as patient consultations and lectures.

The task is to write a letter, usually a referral letter. Sometimes, especially for some professions, a different type of letter is required: e.g. a letter of transfer or discharge, or a letter to advise or inform a patient, carer, or group.

The Speaking sub-test is delivered individually and the candidate takes part in two role-plays. In each role-play, the candidate takes his or her professional role (for example, as a nurse or as a pharmacist) while the interlocutor plays a patient, a client, or a patient's relative or carer.
